How to Attack Vaults in Destroy a Vault
How vault attacks work in Destroy a Vault: deploying your army, damage and gold payouts, and turning every crack into Cash through smelting.
What attacking a vault actually means
Destroy a Vault flips the usual simulator script: the treasure is locked in your own vault, and your robot army is the key. The official loop is “build an army to attack your vault” — you deploy the robots you rolled and upgraded, they lay into the vault door, and when it bursts the Gold inside is yours. The attack is not a minigame you click through; it is the steady output of your army doing its job while you manage the economy around it.
What an attack looks like
The game’s official screenshots show the loop at full tilt: tanks parked in front of the vault door firing beams into it, gold bars erupting from the breach, and damage popups stacking over the scene — +67,000, +70,000, +99,000 on burst moments. Your numbers will differ (they scale with your army’s damage and your vault tier), but the anatomy is constant:
- Sustained damage from every deployed robot, adding up continuously
- The breach moment, when the vault gives and the contents spill
- Collection — your pile of Gold, ready to smelt
Turning a crack into Cash
The Gold on the floor is only step one. The loop’s next line is “smelt Gold and turn it into Cash”: you convert the raw Gold your army dug out into Cash, the spendable currency that buys rolls, upgrades and base expansion. The full chain:
- Army attacks vault → Gold accumulates
- Smelt Gold → Cash
- Spend Cash: upgrade robots, expand roster, expand base
- Stronger army → faster cracks → more Gold
Every vault you burst should end with your Cash balance higher and at least one upgrade bought. Gold sitting unsmelted and Cash sitting unspent are both stalled progress.
Attack harder vaults as you grow
Your starter vault is a tutorial — it exists to be outgrown. The official loop promises “unlock stronger vaults for bigger rewards”: as your army’s damage climbs, tougher vault tiers become crackable and pay proportionally more. Matching your army to the strongest vault it can realistically burst is the core progression decision — the vault tiers guide walks the ladder.
Boss vaults: the BOSSES update
The current update rethemed the whole game around boss vaults — ornate, high-value targets like the winged, halo’d angelic vault in the official art, built for stacked armies to raid together. Servers hold up to six players, and boss vaults are the layer where co-op damage shines. The full breakdown is in boss vault raids.
Practical attack checklist
- Deploy everything — every robot you own should be on the vault, always (see army building)
- Smelt promptly — keep the Gold→Cash conversion moving
- Reinvest immediately — end-of-raid Cash buys the next damage increase
- Check for codes before long sessions: current codes list
- Log out with your army deployed so offline earnings keep accumulating
